It's got a little bit chilly here in Birmingham at the moment.
I have the heating on FULL. I have had a busy week and find myself physically tired today but mentally very happy. So I have given myself permission to down tools for the day as my brain feels like it is processing slower. Before I turn off my laptop I just wanted to share with you. This week I have travelled all over the country, Monday I was in London Tuesday in Warwick and Wednesday I was in Bristol and talked about my passion ... 'YOU' and how to get the best out of yourself and all you do and the importance of putting YOU first. I talked about a big issue many people experience in their life, Burnout.
Burnout is defined as :-
A state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed and unable to meet life's constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest or motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place.
Burnout eventually reduces your productivity and saps your energy.
This leaves you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Eventually, you may feel like you have nothing more to give, and feel like almost giving up. Most of us have days when we feel bored, overloaded, or unappreciated; when the dozen balls we keep in the air aren't noticed, let alone rewarded; when dragging ourselves out of bed requires the determination of Hercules. If you feel like this most of the time, however, you may be flirting with burnout.
Take action NOW before it manifests into illness and really affects your health, your wealth and your relationships.If you feel overtired and overworked, and don't seem able to deal with you may need the help of a professional, hiring a coach might be in order but only one who has experience in this field, find one who understands and see how they might help you prioritise, organise your time better, and strike a balance between all that is important to you. It is an investment in yourself, your whole life and YOU are what matters most. Without you nothing else can happen. If you’re actually starting to develop physical symptoms, suffer from mouth ulcers, migraines, sleeplessness, headaches or heart palpitations, it’s high time to take action. Stress and burn-out might be sniggered at in your circle of influence as an excuse for laziness or a weak mind. Let me tell you right now that is utter RUBBISH. It should be taken seriously. Prolonged periods of stress will wear your body and your mind out to the point where you will become ill. With stress-related and burnt out patients, illness is the bodies’ desperate attempt to force them into relaxation. Why let it get so far, when a strategically timed hot bath, gossip session with the girls, beer with the boys and trip to the movies/beach/spa/shopping of your choice can take the edge off and recharge your batteries quite effectively? Ooh and you don’t need me to tell you that your hand-held telecommunications device and the pc/laptop/tablet/ipad you are reading this from has an OFF-button, do you?
